More number of local tiers recommended-LLRC Chair

local-level-restructuring-commissionRukum / Feb 13: Local Level Restructuring Commission Chairperson Balananda Poudel has said the number of local tiers recently recommended by the Commission was already high.

At an interaction programme organized here Monday on the status of local level structuring, he said, “The number of local level should not exceed 300. They were compelled to recommend 719 local levels at the pressure of the political parties”.

History would prove that the number of local levels recommended by the LLRC was high, he said, adding that some political parties are still insisting to increase the number of local levels to serve their vested interest.

The restructuring of the local bodies is to devolve the centralized power of Singha Durbar (main administrative building of the government) as envisaged by the new constitution, he further noted.

“Some political parties and leaders are making for ill efforts to increase the number of local bodies to prevent the implementation of the rights the constitution bestowed to the local body”, Poudel asserted.

He also made it clear that the LLRC could not carry out its works the way it should be due to time limitation. RSS
