Nepal Telecom to propose reconstruction of Dharahara

Nepal TelecomeKathmandu / Feb 15 : Nepal Telecom (NT) has proposed the reconstruction of quake-damaged Dharahara, the iconic tallest historical monument, in Kathmandu.

Joint-Secretary of NT, Roman Adhikari said the state-owned telecommunication service provider is making preparations to take its reconstruction proposal to the Department of Archeology (DoA) according to which NT will invest Rs 4 billion for the same.

The Dharahara reconstruction project will be implemented across 42 ropani of land that will feature parking lot, museum, children’s park among others, shared Joint-Secretary Adhikari.

Adhikari added that the NT in its proposal has stated that it will raise Rs 110 million from the fundraising and rest of the amount will be borne by the NT.

The ownership of the rebuilt Dharahara will be with NT for 30 years and it will be handed over to the government after the construction cost is recovered, he informed.

NT has also clearly stated that it is making a last-ditch effort to propose the reconstruction of Dharahara to the government and if the proposition is not accepted by the government this time, it will not undertake the responsibility. RSS
