NHRC urges Govt to save lives of Sharma, Raain

NHRCKathmandu / Feb 16: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has requested the government to save the lives of Ram Kumar Sharma and Kalamuddin Raain, who have been staging hunger strike with a seven-point demand for the greater development of Janakpur area in Janakpur.

Issuing a press release, the NHRC Spokesperson Mohana Ansari has also urged the government to address their demands through dialogues. “The government and the individuals in hunger strike should be responsive to seek the solution through talks,” stated the press release.

The NHRC has said that development is a regular process but also reminded the government that their demands are related to the right to protect heritage and right to development.

Sharma is the chairman of the Greater Janakpur Area Development Council while Raain is the member of the council. Sharma and Raain have been staging hunger strike since February 2.
