Bridging generation gap

Kathmandu / Feb 17: Alfresco Open Art Exhibition cum Competition 2017, an exhibit that aims to bridge the generation gap among Nepali artists, is currently being held at Nepal Art Council, in the Capital.

The seventh iteration of the exhibition cum competition that was attended by more than 350 speculators has on display paintings of both professional artists and students from kindergarten, school and college levels. The exhibit has on display paintings by professional painters such as Jeev Ratna Shakya, Shankar aj Singh Suwal, Gehendraman Amatya, Hareram Joju, Surendra Pradhan,

Sushma Rajbhandari, Kunti Thapa Magar and Bipana Maharjan among others.

Rajkumar Rana Magar, whose painting is also featured in the exhibit, shared, “The exhibit has attempted to make way for the new artists while also providing platform to recognise the work of the veterans. Here you can find styles and outlook adapted across generations of artists in one place.”

“Every artist deserves an opportunity to get their work recognised. We have tried to encompass and assort works of as many artists as possible. We even have kindergarten kids participating in the programme,” said Shyam Krishna Shrestha. He added that the exhibition aims to bridge the gap between Nepali artists from different generations and celebrate their talent.

The exhibition, which has already witnessed participation of 400 visitors, will continue till Feb 19. Source: The Kathmandu Post
