Need to bridge the gap in access to quality education: President Bhandari

President ConvocationKathmandu / Feb 25: President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the golden jubilee pillar and a new building of the Mangalodaya secondary school at the school’s golden jubilee celebrations here today.

Located at Chandragiri municipality-5, the school has been providing secondary education since 2023 B.S. So far, 2,800 students have graduated from the school. The new building was built at the cost of around Rs. 30 million after the existing one was damaged in the 2015 earthquake. There are presently 1,200 students studying in the school.

Speaking on the occasion, President Bhandari emphasized on the need to bridge the gap of access to quality education between students in the urban and rural sector. Stating that students in the remote regions are still deprived of education and regular students forced to drop out, she said only coordination between the parents, teachers and school could help increase quality of education in schools.

Lauding the Mangoladaya school as a good example to show that the community schools too are not behind the institutional schools, she also pointed out the need to expand education through the use of latest information technology.

On the occasion, President Bhandari felicitated the founder teachers, best students and helping hands to construct the School building. Head Master at the School Lilanath Sharma was also feted with a gold medal.

Speaking at the same programme, Education Minister Dhaniram Poudel said that the elections were essential to reach the rights of Singh Durbar to the local level. He further committed to support for the construction of teachers’ hostel and building for vocational training as well.

Similarly, lawmaker Rajendra KC opined for connecting education produced from public educational institutions to employment.

On the occasion, a souvenir comprising different activities of the school was also released. RSS
