Nepal: Tourist arrivals surge, March sees 28.9% increase

Kathmandu / April 1: As the tourist season commences, there has been a notable increase in the influx of foreign tourists to Nepal. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has reported that in March alone, 128,167 tourists from various countries entered Nepal by air.

This represents a significant increase of 28.9 percent compared to the same month in the previous year. In March 2023, the number of tourists who visited Nepal stood at 99,426.

The months of March, April, and May traditionally see a surge in tourist activity in Nepal, with many visitors coming for trekking and mountain climbing adventures. This season, the largest group of tourists came from India, totaling 30,698.

In March 2024, notable numbers of tourists arrived from several countries: 12,093 from China, 10,763 from America, 7,241 from Britain, 5,741 from Sri Lanka, 5,255 from Germany, 4,567 from Thailand, 4,345 from Australia, 3,240 from France, and 3,131 from Myanmar.
