PM Dahal stirs people to celebrate voting atmosphere

PM AddressKathmandu / Feb 28: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged one and all to actively participate in the forthcoming local elections taking place after a gap of 19 years.

In an address to the nation on Tuesday, PM Dahal said the election is the essence of democracy and the announcement of local elections has created atmosphere for election. “So, involve in election without any fear,” he appealed to the people. This (local) elections will be historic with the election of a significant number of women and backward community representatives.

I also look forward to the support from all sides including the international community in making the upcoming elections a success.

The PM celebrated the end of load shedding in the Kathmandu Valley, saying that the phase of development time and efforts for it would now be mentioned as before load shedding and after load shedding. “I’m under pressure to work a lot in short time. However, the government is committed to its goal of economic development and making of prosperous and just Nepal,” he said adding that “I don’t say government has not any weakness, but it has committed any mistakes.”

He also lauded the acceleration of the activities under the construction of postal highway as the result of his India visit. “Government has done a lot to make foreign employment process hassle-free and ensuring safety and security to Nepali migrant workers abroad,” the PM stressed.

According to him, the installation of new Chief Executive Officer at National Reconstruction Authority (NEA) was a step to ensure acceleration of reconstruction activities and wipe out dilly dallying.

Other issues he hailed were extension of the term of transitional justice mechanism, preparation at final stage for formation of settlement commission, immediate handing over of award to players, free treatment of rheumatic heart disease, formation of peasant’s commission and speedy activities under the national pride projects.

PM Dahal also claimed that the Kathmandu Valley was getting the Melamchi drinking water, and construction of the larger section of fast track both before the upcoming Dashain festival. RSS
