42-kw Nandiwangkhola project benefits over 200 households

ElectricityMyagdi / March 10: Over 200 households of six wards of Malkwang VDC of Myagdi now have an access to electricity facility with the completion of a 42-kilowatt Nandiwangkhola Micro Hydroelectricity Project.

The project constructed at a cost of over Rs 20 million was inaugurated amidst a programme here Thursday.

On the occasion, Project Chief Lal Bahadur Chhantyal presented the project expenditure details as per which locals donated voluntary labour equivalent to Rs 585,300 to construct the project.

Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, the Malkwang VDC, Myagdi District Development Committee and a local mothers’ group financially contributed to the construction of the project.

Besides, people from Malkwang residing abroad sent Rs 5.67 million collected through a fundraising campaign to assist the project implementation.

We have lights at our home and availability of electricity in the village is expected to help us in income generating activities as well, said a local Yammaya Chhantyal. Presently, 212 families here have used electricity generated from the project. RSS
