EC officially approached to lift ban on Nepali Airlines

Nepal AirlinesKathmandu / March 15: The Government of Nepal has handed over an official letter approaching the European Commission (EC) to lift a ban on Nepali Airlines in European skies.

Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shanker Bairagi, handed the approach paper to European Union Ambassador to Nepal, Renjse Tehrink, at Ministry on Wednesday, asking withdrawal of decision on banning Nepali Airlines for failing to meet basis minimum air safety standards. Secreatry Bairagi forwarded the document prepared by the Ministry of Tourism.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat in course of his visit to Brussels on second week of February had asked senior EC officials to remove Nepal from the back list.

The letter along with air safety progress report was sent to EC through Ambassador in line with the understanding reached between Minister Dr Mahat and EC President Jean-Cloude Juncker during his visit to Brussels.

EC President Juncker had assured Foreign Minister Mahat of removing Nepal from blacklist based on the certified documents that the country meets aid safety standards. RSS
