Nepal-India EPG meeting on Wednesday

Nepal and India flagKathmandu / March 30: The Nepal-India Eminent Persons’ Group is meeting in Kathmandu on coming April 5 and 6.

The Group scheduled to meet in every three months is meeting after a delay of almost three months, due to various reasons including elections in India. This is the third time that the EPG is meeting since it was formed, according to member of the Group Dr Rajan Bhattarai.

The meeting is expected to look into the 1950 Nepal-India treaty and deliberate on matters relating to water resources, trade, transit and socio-cultural issues. The EPG comprises former Foreign Minister Dr Bheikh Bahadur Thapa, former minister Nilamber Acharya and former Water Resources Secretary Surya Nath Upadhyay, along with Dr Bhattarai. The Indian side is represented in the group by Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Dr Mahendra P Lama, BC Upreti and Jayant Prasad. RSS
