Construction of Gumda-Machakhola-Tibet road to begin

Map of GorakhaGorkha / April 1: The construction of the Gumda-Machakhola section of the road leading Barpak to Tibet is to begin soon.

The opening of the track of the road had been delayed after the locals of Yamgaon and Lamsibot in Dharche municipality disagreed over the route of the road, with people expression apprehension of the road construction inviting mudslide.

An all side meeting held on Friday decided to take the road passing through Yamgaon. The meeting was held in presence of MP Cham Bahadur Gurung, Chief District Officer Jitendra Basnet among others. Construction of the road passing through Lapsibot was not possible due to weak topography, said the road project technician Bal Krishna Gautam.

The new track will be 13 kilometers long from Gumda to Machakhola and is estimated to be completed at the cost of Rs. 9.4 million. RSS
