Lassana Project’s Rebuilding Recaptured displayed

LassanaKathmandu / Jun 13: Community-based art project Rebuilding Recaptured took place at the Nexus Culture Centre in Lalitpur, this weekend. The workshop saw the exhibition of artworks created during a one-month long workshop in Sindhupalchok held the previous month.

The workshop saw a total of 18 artists from countries such as Finland, Bangladesh, and India create their works in Sipapokhare in Sindhupalchok.

During the workshop, the artists engaged in discussions with quake-affected locals in the district and based their works on their impressions.

The works touch upon a diverse range of subjects. Artists Kunjan Tamang and Mona Penenon’s works depict how Sindhupalchok locals are compelled to struggle under the lack of adequate water resources. Ashmina Ranjit and Shrawan Maharjan’s works revolve around how one can turn garbage into works of art. Malashree Subedi and Dipti Sherchan have narrated the tales of residents there. Abhisekh Shah’s video art revolves around the socio-economic and natural aspects of Sipapokhare.

The works were on view at Nexus Culture Centre on Saturday and are yet to be displayed to a wider audience. Source: The Kathmandu Post
