CIAA raids BPKIHS and seizes some documents

Itahari / July 27: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Regional Office, Itahari, on Thursday raided the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and seized some documents.

The CIAA, which has been carrying out investigation over reports of financial irregularities at the BPKIHS since long, seized the documents suspecting millions of rupees of financial irregularities in the process of purchasing MRI machine as well as appointment of consultants for the construction of a building for cancer and heart treatment in the hospital premises.

A team under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Ramesh Basnet raided the hospital.

Prem Prasad Bhattarai of the Eastern Regional Office of CIAA said that complaints over the issue of financial irregularities at the hospital were filed time and again and the CIAA had been carrying out investigation in this regard.

Assistant Registrar Amit Shreevastav of the BPKIHS said he provided every document sought by the team and that the CIAA team took away some documents. RSS
