75.58 pc votes cast in Bharatpur

ElectionChitwan / Aug 4: The re-election in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19 held on Friday saw 75.58 per cent voter turnout. The total number of votes cast today was 2,870.

The re-election was conducted in the ward as part of the first phase of local level elections after the earlier polls was scrapped as the CPN (Maoist Centre) cadres allegedly torn 90 ballot papers on May 28 while the vote counting was underway.

During the first phase of local level elections, the voter turnout was 2,897. Today’s election saw 27 voters less than the previous polls.

It has been learnt that the number of eligible voters in the ward is 3, 797.

The re-election was conducted in the ward after the Supreme Court decision on July 30 upheld the Election Commission’s decision to conduct re-election in the Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19.
