EC seeks samples of personal details of those assigned to allocate nomination; UML registered with EC for parliamentary and provincial polls

Election CommissionKathmandu / Aug. 25: The Election Commission (EC) has urged political parties for the submission of the samples of personal details including signature of the officials granted the rights to allocate formal nomination letters to (would be) candidates for the third round of September 18 local level elections, by August 29.

A meeting held Thursday under the chair of its Chief Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav took a decision to this effect.

Those political parties who had got a go-ahead for nominating candidates for the polls have been communicated to submit details (including name, caste and signature) of those officials assigned to handover nomination to the EC’s central office at Kantipath, said EC’s Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.

Meanwhile, the main opposition CPN-UML has registered the party with the Election Commission for the parliamentary and provincial elections scheduled for November 26.

A team led by party Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam registered the party with the EC after submitting required legal documents on Friday.

The EC has given the deadline of 27 August for the political parties to get registered.

The EC said that 44 political parties have been registered so far.

On the occasion, the UML leaders also held a discussion with the Chief Election Commission and election commissioners regarding the third phase of local level elections slated for September 18 in Province 2.

After the meeting, leader Gautam told journalists that his party was ready to fully cooperate with all the parties to pass the election bill. RSS
