ANFA announces 23-member Nepal squad against Tajikistan

Nepal-national-football-team-750x450Kathmandu / Sept 2: The All Nepal Football Association on Saturday has announced 23-member squad for Nepal’s home fixture against Tajikistan for AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers on Tuesday.

The game will be played at the ANFA Complex in Satdobata, Lalitpur. National team head coach Japanese Gyotoku Koji finalised 23-members squad from 30 players called for close camp for upcoming fixture against Tajikistan.

Nepal’s veteran striker Anil Gurung has been overlooked over Nepal Army player George Prince Karki. It has been learned that Gurung was about to make his 50th national cap in a game against Tajikistan and hang his boots, however, Koji overlooked him.

Defender Aditya Chaudhary has made a comeback to the national fold following his injury lay off. Striker Geroge Prince Karki makes it to the National team.

Nepal Squad:

Goalkeepers: Kiran Chemjong, Bishal Shrestha, Bikesh Kuthu

Defenders: Biraj Maharjhan (C) Devendra Tamang, Ananata Tamang, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Jitendra Karki, Aditya Chaudhary, Kamal Shrestha

Midfielders: Sunil Bal, Heman Gurung, Rohit Chand, Suman Lama, Anjan Bista, Bikram Lama, Bishal Rai, Hemant Thapa Magar, Sujal Shrestha

Forwards: Bimal Gharti Magar, George Prince Karki, Nawayug Shrestha, Bharat Khawas

Head Coach: Gyotoku Koji

Earlier, during the campaing, Nepal had lost 4-1 away to Philippines and drew 1-1 against Yemen Home. Nepal currently sits in third position with a solitary point in four team qualifying round.
Nepal will travel to Tajikistan for an away game at Dushanbe on October 10, 2017.

Nepal will host the Philippines at the Halchowk Stadium on November 14, 2017. Earlier, the Ajkals had defeated Nepal 4-1 in Manila on March 28.

Nepal will travel to Doha to face Yemen for the final qualifying game of the campaign on March 27, 2018.

The United Arab Emirates is hosting the AFC 2019 Asia Cup.
