Garbage disposal resumes at Okharpauwa

GarbageNuwakot / Sept. 10: The garbage disposal task which was halted for last week has resumed after concerned authorities agreed to address Okharpauwa locals’ demands.

Locals agreed to halt the obstruction to garbage disposal from Kathmandu Metropolitan City at Sisdol landfill site after concerned authorities assured them of fulfilling their demands.

According to Kakani Rural Municipality-2 ward chair Kedar Poudel, the garbage disposal task resumed after reaching a five-point agreement and forming a taskforce in this connection.

With this, garbage loaded vehicles reached Okharpauwa since this morning. The taskforce will submit its report by 10 days to address concerned locals demands.

The meeting held by deputy mayors of Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitan Cities and concerned locals took this decision.

With the agreement, the metropolis would provide an ambulance to the locals, dump garbage at the landfill site systematically and using pesticides in the landfill. RSS
