Quality education for prosperous Nepal: President Bhandari

President ConvocationKathmandu / Nov 4:President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called upon the government, educational institutions and the guardians to pay attention to the quality of education in the coming days for ‘happier Nepalis and prosperous Nepal’.

Addressing the Academic Day programme of the Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute in the capital on Saturday, the Head-of-State pointed out the need of such education in the country that can produce human resources who can compete in the world market in the present age of competition and specialization. She suggested incorporation of subjects enhancing the skills and efficiency in the curricula from the school to the university level.

On the occasion, senior ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit said that he felt proud being a Nepali and to be involved in eye care service in Nepal and around the world.

Similarly, the winner of the world-famous Magasaysay Award for 2006, Dr Ruit said, “One can achieve success through hard work, commitment, determination and respect to one’s profession; one should not be distracted.”

Institute’s founding principal Laxman Rajbanshi shared that he spent five decades for the promotion of education, adding that the State should provide opportunities to the capable human resources to work within the country itself.

Principal Rupak Rajbanshi said that the Institute would be further developed into an educational and academic institution of excellence in the days ahead. He gave the information that the Institute has been changed into a public educational trust.

Established as Vanasthali School in 2008 BS at Balaju, it was renamed as Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute in 2030 BS after the merger of two more schools with it. Hari Shumsher J.B.R. had provided land within the Balaju Industrial Estate free of cost for setting up the Institute.

Teachers and employees serving the Institute for long were honoured with the Long Service Medal.

Likewise, Chinese nationals who contributed in the search and rescue at the time of the Gorkha Earthquake and provided scholarship funds were honoured at the programme. RSS
