Provincial Assembly meeting of Province-1 concludes; Province 4 unanimously elects members to run meeting

Province 3 MeetingKathmandu / Feb 05: Province No-1 held its historic first Provincial Assembly meeting in the temporary capital in Janakpur on Monday.

The meeting was chaired by the senior most-member Om Prakash Sarawagi. Lawmakers started expressing their views after Sarabagi read out the letter received from the Province Chief Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang regarding the first session.

Six lawmakers from each party and one independent member spoke at the meeting. The meeting also endorsed an interim province assembly regulation procedure-2074 BS to be effective until speaker was elected.

Earlier, the meeting observed a minute’s silence in the name of martyrs. The next meeting is scheduled for February 12 when the election for the speaker will also be held.

Province 4 unanimously elects members to run meeting

Meanwhile, the first provincial assembly meeting of province no 4 has unanimously approved the name of five members to run meeting in absence of the Speaker and Deputy-Speaker.

They are Gayetri Gurung, Tek Bahadur Gharti Magar, Dhanmaya Pokharel Lama, Mohan Kumari Gurung and Mitra Kumari Subedi.

Senior-most member of the provincial assembly, Janak Lal Shrestha, informed the meeting about the time fixed for the election of Speaker. The election has been scheduled at 1:00 pm on February 15.

On the occasion, Shrestha also asked provincial assembly secretary Jibraj Budhathoki to publish the notice regarding the election today itself.

Prithvi Subba Gurung, Krishna Chandra Nepali, Hari Bahadur Chuman, Krishna Thapa, Hari Sharan Acharya, Kiran Gurung, Dobate Bishwokarma, Netra Nath Adhikari, Srijana Sharma, Lalitkala Gurung and Gayetri Gurung addressed the meeting.

The next meeting of the provincial assembly has been scheduled at 1:00 pm on February 15. RSS
