Nepal defeat UAE by 4 wickets

Nepali U 19 Cricket PlayersKathmandu / Feb 11: Nepal has defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by four wickets in the ICC World Cricket League Division 2. The match played at the United Cricket Club Ground in Windhoek, Namibia, Nepal won a must-win game against the UAE.

The half-century run score by skipper and captain Paras Khadka and four wickets by Sompal Kami drove Nepali team to win the game. Captain Khadka hit five sixes and two fours for the highest score of 51 runs. Likewise, Aarif Sheikh hit 16 runs to win the third game of the tournament.

Earlier, UAE had set targets of 115 runs for Nepal. In the third match of Division 2, UAE was all out in 31 overs. The game was shortened to 34 overs due to rain.

Nepal was selected to field first in a must-win game against the UAE at the United Cricket Club Ground in Windhoek, Namibia.

Shaiman Anwar scored highest 30 runs with two fours. Adnan Mufti hit 18 runs including two fours.

Sompal Kami took four wickets with loss 30 runs. Similarly, Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets with loss of 30 runs.

Nepal had started with a slim win against host Namibia but lost to Oman by six wickets in its second game. Nepal must win today’s game if it is to secure the top two spot of the tournament that guarantees two spots in next month’s ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.

While Nepali bowling lineup has continually maintained its mark, the team has showcased poor batting lineup in both the games. Against Oman, Nepal struggled to score 138 in 46 over, which the latter reached in just 35.1 over.
