Kidney transplant sees remarkable success rate

kidney-diseaseBhaktapur / Feb 17: The Martyr Dharmabhakta National Human Organ Transplant Centre, Bhaktapur has successfully undertaken transplant of over 400 kidneys.

At a press conference organized here on Friday, Hospital’s Executive Director Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha informed that the Centre has so far successfully transplanted kidneys on 404 patients.

It had initiated the kidney transplant service since January 2013.

The inflow of patients has alarmingly increased at the hospital with the resumption of additional medical services such as Urology, gastro surgery, Cardio therapy and surgery and stone surgery besides kidney transplant, said Prof Dr Rakesh Barma. Right now more than 400 patients are waiting their turns for kidney transplant and more than this number for dialysis, Dr Shrestha said. RSS
