36 metric tonnes of solid waste collected under Kathmandu valley clean-up campaign

Kathmandu / Feb 24: At least 36 metric tons of solid waste has been collected as part of Kathmandu valley clean-up campaign on Saturday.

Sixteen metric tons of garbage was picked up from Shankhamul area under the Bagmati Clean-up Mega Campaign that celebrated its 250th week today. The event saw the participation of more than 1,000 people from different walks of life including Minister for Population and Environment Lal Babu Pandit.

Addressing the event, Pandit pledged to make the capital city as a place where people can walk without wearing anti-pollution masks in one year.

Likewise, one metric ton of waste was collected from Gothatar bridge as part of the Above Guheshwari Bagmati Clean-up Campaign that made it to the 211th week on Saturday.

Another 15 metric tons of garbage was extracted from Chappal Karkhana Chowk to Maharajgunj Chowk under the Ring Road Clean-up Campaign that reached 46th week. The event saw the participation of more than 500 people from all walks of life including Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Thama Maya Thapa.

Addressing the event, Minister Thapa said the government would provide support for the campaign.

Four metric tons of waste was collected from Sano Bhayrang in Swayambhu under the Bafal Section Clean-up Campaign that reached 28th week. RSS
