Buddha Krishna gets his tongue pierced

Tounge PiercingBhaktapur / Apr 16: Buddha Krishna Baag Shrestha, 48, of Bode, Thimi, today pierced his tongue in the Bisket Jatra (a religious function) for the sixth consecutive year. This tongue piercing festival is observed on Baishakh 2 every year.

He got his tongue pierced amid a huge crowd at Pancho Ganesh temple at 2:00 pm with 10 inch long iron spike.

With the spike lodged in the tongue, he was taken around the city before taking the spike out of his tongue in front of Pancho Ganesh.

Shrestha said he got pierced his tongue to give continuity to the festival as well as to preserve such tradition. Earlier, he got his tongue pierced for fourth consecutive years from 2062 BS. RSS
