Master plan of Lumbini to be finalized within two years-Tourism Minister

LumbiniRupandehi / Apr 28: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has said Lumbini has been the pilgrimage site for Buddhists from across the globe.

Inaugurating the International Buddhist Conference in Lumbini today, he said Lumbini has become the hub for international community to carry out research and study on Buddhism.

“The master plan of Lumbini would be finalized within two and a half years. A concept of Greater Lumbini has been put forth which also has the plan to connect Tilaurakot, Devdaha, Ramgram and Lumbini with road network”, Minister Adhikari added.

He further noted that the International Buddhist Conference would promote religious tourism and also contribute to explore and expand international relation.

“Along with Greater Lumbini, a feasibility study of the monorail is also being undertaken”, he shared.

On the occasion, Coordinator of International Buddhist Conference and Buddha Jayanti Management Committee and Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini University Dr Naresh Man Bajracharya said that the Conference would attempt to establish all subjects related to Buddha.

As many as 23 working papers would be presented on the themes related to Buddhism in the Conference. On the occasion, 70 foreign Professors, Buddhist preachers and intellectuals are participating in the two-day event. RSS
