Minister Pun directs stakeholders to submit details of hydropower projects

HydropowerKathmandu / Apr 30 : Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun has directed the concerned stakeholders to submit details of the hydropower projects being constructed at the investment of government and private sector.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the progress of hydropower projects, Minister Pun directed the subsidiary and private investment companies under the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to submit the details within 15 days.

After the directive from Energy Minister, NEA has also started to seek progress details of the projects of private sector.

In a notice on Sunday, the NEA directed the projects which have made an agreement to purchase electricity to submit progress report within 15 days and to inform about the tentative time to complete the projects.

Saying that the delay in the construction has affected the development of the energy and hydropower projects, Minister Pun said it was essential to monitor the projects.

He stressed on the need to monitor the projects being constructed by the NEA and its subsidiary companies.

Minister Pun said the companies that have not started work even after getting the approval will not get discount under any pretext.
