Home Minister commits to end syndicates in all sectors; NRB directs BFIs to freeze accounts of transport entrepreneurs 

Rambahadur-thapa-badalKathmandu / May 06: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the government was planning to end the syndicate persisting in truck entrepreneurs, with the syndicates now ended in bus and microbus entrepreneurs.

In a meeting with the delegates from Consumers Rights protection Forum in the Ministry today, Minister Thapa committed to ending all kinds syndicates persisting in every sector including transportation.

On the occasion, the delegation urged the Minister to continue such actions even in other sectors like petroleum dealers, tankers, and other service sectors including education, health and banking as well.

The delegation also thanked Minister for the action adding that they were exerting pressure for the same since the past 15 years.

NRB directs BFIs to freeze accounts of transport entrepreneurs 

Meanwhile, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Sunday directed banks and financial institutions to freeze the bank accounts of various transport entrepreneurs who stood in favour of transport syndicate.

The central bank, after correspondence from the Finance Ministry, directed banks and financial institutions to freeze the accounts of transport committees running syndicates.

The Ministry of Home Affairs along with Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport on Friday had decided to freeze bank accounts of various transport committees running syndicates in the wake of protests launched by supporters of transport cartels.
