Govt serious towards developing Karnali Province: PM
Kathmandu / May 9 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government is serious about developing Karnali province. PM Oli said so while receiving a memorandum submitted by a delegation of Karnali Province headed by the province Chief Minister.
According to the secretariat of Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, PM Oli expressed his commitment to allocate budget for the development of Karnali at the earliest.
A team led by the Chief Minister had demanded allocation of budget for the development of physical infrastructure, irrigation, energy and electricity, communication, tourism, education and health among other sectors with the Prime Minister.
Chief Minister Shahi, federal parliament lawmaker Janardan Sharma and Finance Minister of Karnali Province Prakash, among others, had reached the Prime Minister’s office in Baluwatar to submit the memorandum.
Karnali Province government and the people’s representatives put forth their demands at a time when the Prime Minister is seeking suggestions for formulation of the fiscal budget for the year 2018/2019.
Finance Minister Yuvaraj Khatiwada had presented the principles and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year today itself. He said that the government would maintain financial discipline while formulating the budget for this fiscal year.
