Govt projects 5.5 per cent economic growth in the current fiscal; Govt to unveil budget on Tuesday

Yuvaraj KhatiwadaKathmandu / May 27 : Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has presented the economic survey of the current fiscal year and annual status review of public enterprises in a parliamentary meeting today.

The survey projected a 5.5 per cent economic growth rate in the current fiscal year.

Likewise, per capita income is estimated to stand at US dollar 1,000 in the current fiscal. As per the latest estimates, over 6 million people in Nepal are under absolute poverty and 8 million under multidimensional poverty line.

Meanwhile, the government is announcing budget for fiscal year 2075/076 BS in a joint meeting of federal parliaments on May 29, 2018.

Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed lawmakers about budget revelation in today’s meeting of the House of Parliament.

Finance Minister Yubraj Khatiwada would unveil the budget in the joint meeting of parliament at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.

The Constitution of Nepal mandates government to unveil budget in joint meeting of federal parliaments on 15 Jestha.

Issues agreed with India will be implemented: PM Oli

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the members of National Assembly to take back the proposal on amendment of the government policies and programmes at NA meeting today.

Responding to the queries emerged during the discussion on government policies and programmes, PM Oli remarked that development was essential in all spheres – agriculture, industry, tourism, trade and infrastructures- for the prosperity and happiness of Nepali citizens and government’s policies and programmes have created a base for the same.

Similarly, he said issues agreed with India would be implemented. Government will focus on the production of export oriented goods, the PM added.
