Provincial parliamentarians demand declaration of permanent capital

Makawanpur, May 31/ In a recent provincial assembly meeting of Province 3, parliamentarians demanded the provincial government to declare the permanent provincial capital stating that the issue of the capital should be concluded without any delay.

Parliamentarians of the governing Nepal Communist Party (NCP) expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of progress in the issue despite forming a special council to look into the matter. NCP parliamentarian Hiranath Khatiwada rued the delay, urging the government to conclude the matter at the earliest.

Likewise, another NCP parliamentarian Meena Gyawali said the work done by the special committee is highly unsatisfactory.

However, President Deepak Niraula of the special committee claimed that their feasibility study on the matter is progressing quite well. He said information is being collected from all 12 districts except Kathmandu regarding the situation of infrastructures and other important indicators to declare the capital.

The parliamentarians also demanded that the federal and central governments should be serious to solve the problems that are being faced by earthquake victims. Parliamentarians including Prabhat Tamang, Shova Shakya, Shanta Bahadur Chepang and Rajani Amatya raised the issue at the meeting.

The provincial parliamentarians also discussed about policy and programs of the provincial government, monopoly of contractors, increasing criminal activities among other issues. (The Republica)
