KMC starts providing free internet services at seven places
Kathmandu, July 3 : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has made internet services available at seven various public places. The people have free access to the internet at these places.
The free internet facility is available at the Pashupatinath area, Balaju Park, Shankhapark, Swoyambhu, Bouddha and Hanumandhoka Durbar area.
This service has been made available in line with an agreement reached between KMC and World Link Communication Pvt Ltd some three months ago.
The KMC has provided free internet facility at these public places as these places are frequented much by people both Nepalis and foreigners, said Dhruba Kafle, chief of the KMC’s information technology division.
He also pointed out the need of increasing the internet capacity at Hanumandhoka and Balaju park as these places have higher presence of visitors.
According to him, 10 MBPS capacity internet facility is provided at all these places at present.
KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has said free internet service would be provided at the seven public places in the initial phase and it would be expanded to other places as per the need. Before this, KMC has already started providing this facility at Ratna Park.
