Singer Ani Chhoying hands over Rs 10 million to PM Oli
Kathmandu, July 19: Singer Ani Chhoying Dolma Sherpa has contributed Rs 10 million to the programme to displace the tuin or rope bridges from the country.
She handed over the amount to the Prime Minister in the first episode of the “Prime Minister with the People” programme broadcast on Nepal Television on Wednesday night.
On the occasion, the singer of the “phoolko Aankhama Phulai Sansara” fame wished that the amount would contribute to constructing at least a single suspension bridge. She also extended her best wishes to the government to live up to the aspirations of the nation and the people in a meaningful way as it after long that the country has got a stable government enjoying singular majority after long.
Accepting the amount, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced that he would contribute his one month’s salary to add to the amount and set up a ‘Tuin Displacement Fund’. Programme presenter Manoj Pandey on the occasion announced that he would contribute Rs 50,000 to this fund.
It may be recalled here that Prime Minister Oli had announced while assuming office during his first term as the Prime Minister on October 11, 2015 that all the rope bridges in the country would be replaced by suspension bridges.
