NMA ups the ante against Muluki Code
Kathmandu / Aug 31: Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has announced protest programs against the government for its failure to implement the deal to amend the Muluki Code.
Issuing a press release on Friday evening, Dr. Lochan Karki, General Secretary of the NAM, warned that the doctors would halt all the services except for the emergency wards unless the government rectifies the Muluki Code that incriminates the medical persons.
“Medical persons will halt their service except for the emergency wards effective from September 2 in protest of the Muluki code as it poses obstacles for them in discharging their duties,” reads the statement.
The NMA, earlier, had called off its protest program after the government had expressed its commitment to amend controversial provisions in the recently endorsed Muluki Code by August 31.
