Ghimire recommended as CIAA chief

CIAA Chief GhimireKathmandu / Sept 5: The Constitutional Council has recommended Nabin Kumar Ghimire, acting Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) as the new CIAA Chief Commissioner.

A meeting of the Council held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, in Singha Durbar, proposed his name for the CIAA chief post, said Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

Ghimire has been taking charge of CIAA as the acting chief since February 14 this year, following the retirement of the then chief Deep Basnyat. He was appointed the CIAA Commissioner on April 2, 2015.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, main opposition party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Speaker Mahara and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina.

According to the constitutional provision, parliamentary hearing shall be conducted before the appointment of CIAA chief. RSS
