Nepalaya to launch autobiography of former IGP Kharel

Kathmandu / Oct 02: Nepalaya, book publication house, is all set to launch an autobiography of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Achyut Krishna Kharel of Nepal Police, on Saturday.

Issuing a press statement today, Nepalaya said the book would perhaps unfold many interesting stories during changing political stratosphere in the country.

Kharel had joined the force as a footballer and later on went all the way to the pinnacle of the police force. A passionate footballer also played for the national team.

Referring to the infamous 33 kg gold smuggling case, the book reveals deep connection of the gold network in Nepal and then Royal Palace’s nexus in the trade, reads the statement.

Kharel shares how he commanded the ill-equipped police force during the Maoist conflict in his book.

In his autobiography, Kharel acknowledges how he witnessed a frustrating interrelation between Political parties, Royal Palace and the Nepali Army.

“I did not write my story to blow my own trumpets. My primary objective was to document my experiences to prevent misinterpretation of the event I witnessed unfolding,” Kharel said. “This will also facilitate the people’s right to information.”

According to Saijan Maskay of Publication Nepalaya, IGP Kharel’s story helps understand several important episodes of the social and political relevance of the Panchayat era and the period after the restoration of democracy.

The book will be released on Saturday, 6th October 2018. Paperback edition of this 380 pages book is priced at Rs 665 and the hardback edition is available at Rs 995, as mentioned in the statement.

The book would be simultaneously published worldwide on the POD (print on demand) through Amazon.com, according to Nepalaya.
