No talks to be held with terrorists: PM Oli

Kathmandu / Mar 12: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government would not hold talks with the group involving in terrorism through violence and looting.

The PM said this in a meeting with a delegation of the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA) at his official residence in Baluwatar today. He said holding talks with those carrying out bombings and extortion activities was irrelevant.

“Many people say talks should be held. But talks for what and are their activities political? Activities, like carrying out bomb blasts, terrorizing the people and extortion, cannot at all be political activities,” the PM said, adding that holding talks with people involved in such activities was meaningless. Rather they should be detained as per the law.

Stating that ‘a gang’ in the name of communist was terrorizing the people, Prime Minister and NCP chair Oli said, “Communist should have taught the youth to work, guided them on the right path and involved in the production. But here, they are teaching the youth to extort and loot in the name of communist. This cannot happen.”

The NAFEA delegation has met with the Prime Minister to draw the government’s attention to the incident of a bomb attack that took place on March 8 at the house of Association president Rohan Gurung.

PM Oli expressed regrets over the bomb blast at Gurung’s house and expressed the government’s commitment to investigate into the incident.
