CK Raut led Alliance for Independent Madhes rechristened ‘Janmat Party’

Kathmandu / Mar 18: The Alliance for Independent Madhes led by former secessionist activist Chandra Kant (CK) Raut will now be named and known as Janmat Party.

Raut had recently signed a 11-point deal with the government thereby agreeing to adopt democratic means to resolve existing issues while renouncing secessionist drive.

Issuing a press release today, the AIM, now Janmat Party, stated that the 11-point deal was a historic and unprecedented achievement for the people of Madhes, along with the fresh announcement regarding the party’s name.

The national council meeting of the Alliance for Independent Madhes led by CK Raut started in Lahan, Siraha, on Sunday. The meeting primarily deliberated on the recent agreement between the then AIM and the government and its future policies and strategies.

The party has also decided on the flag design and party logo. The council meeting has formed a 35-member central working committee to be chaired by CK Raut. The new party will soon be registered at the Election Commission.
