Kathmandu DAO to remove petrol pumps operating against standard

Kathmandu / May 3: Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Acharya has announced to remove petrol pumps operating against the standard.

Speaking at a discussion programme organised by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Sector, Kalanki here today to discuss ways for traffic management in the Kalanki area, the CDO said the petroleum dealers operating nearby the public road against the standard would be removed in a bid to improve the traffic system.

Metropolitan Traffic Police Division chief, senior superintendent of police, Basanta Kumar Panta, said the Division has implemented a three-month action plan aims to further systematize the traffic system in the Kathmandu Valley. ‘Pick and drop’ provisions are in place in the area around the Tundikhel and Koteshwor areas to deal with the issues of traffic congestion.

Transport entrepreneur and general secretary of National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, Saroj Sitaula, said dress code and identity cards had been made mandatory for employees of public bus ticket counters. He promised support to the government in every effort meant for improvement in the transport sector. RSS
