PM Oli receives national identity card

Kathmandu / July 9: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has received a national identity card on Tuesday. Director-General of Department of National Identity Card and Civil Registration Deepak Kafle handed over the national identity card to PM Oli amidst a special program held at Baluwatar.

Similarly, the wife of PM Oli, Radhika Shakya also received the national identity card. Meanwhile, the department has said that it will hand over the biometric ID card to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Kafle said that the department is handing over the biometric ID card to the PM Oli and other dignitaries as a part of the first phase of the campaign in which the department has expected to distribute 117000 ID cards to the public. He assured that the department will distribute the national identity card to all citizens within two years.

As per the constitution, the national identity card will ensure the identity of every citizen and it will be a basic measure to enroll for the civil service. The government has issued the directorial order to the department to complete the distribution process within two years.
