Death toll from flooding and landslides rises to 67; Ministry directs admin officers not to leave offices


Kathmandu / July 15: The death toll from flooding and landslides triggered by torrential rain has risen to 67, Nepal Police says.

According to Nepal Police, of the 67 persons killed in flooding and landslides, 41 are male and 26 female.

At least, 43 persons(23 males and 20 females) sustained injuries while 30(18 males and 12 females) are missing in the areas hit by downpours and landslides triggered by heavy rain.

As many as 1446 persons have been rescued successfully.

Ministry directs admin officers not to leave offices

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has directed the chief administrative officers of all 753 local levels to be available at the office round the clock.

Ministry Spokesperson Bhupal Baral informed that the Ministry issued such direction in view of the immediate need of rescue and rehabilitation owing to floods, landslides and inundations in different parts of the country.

He further said for the absence of chief administrative officers at some local levels at the time of the disaster, the rescue activities and relief distribution to the disaster victims were badly affected. So, they were directed again not to leave the working stations but provide service with utmost coordination and effectiveness. RSS
