EC prepares third five-year strategic plans

Kathmandu / August 19:The Election Commission has prepared the third five-year strategic plans.

The EC has prepared the third Five-Year Strategic Plan from the fiscal year 2019/20 to 2023/24 with the objective of establishing the constitutional body as an autonomous, competent and sound body, with an aim to conduct the election in a clean, independent, credible and economical manner.

For the third five-year strategic plan of the commission, 40 working policies have been set out under five strategies.

Speaking with the media on Monday, spokesperson of the commission Shankar Prasad Pokharel said that the draft of the strategic plan was prepared by incorporating suggestions from the concerned bodies from all seven provinces.

Spokesperson Pokharel informed that the strategic plan has been prepared to achieve the goal of ensuring citizens the opportunity to exercise their political rights freely through clean, independent, fair, credible and economical elections.

The EC has planned a five-year strategic plan to develop a technological electoral management system; to reform election-related policies and legal provisions, to regulate political parties in accordance with the constitution and the law, and to increase partnership and cooperation in elections and civic education.
