Pakistani ambassador to Nepal calls on Vice President Pun

Kathmandu / Sept 5: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Dr Mazhar Javed has paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun at the latter’s residence on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Vice-President’s Secretariat, Pun and Javed discussed on various issues including bilateral cooperation between two countries.

During the meeting, Vice-Prez Pun stated that Nepal and Pakistan have been enjoying age-old ties. He also called for establishing peace in South Asia region through a collective positive effort.

Envoy Javed, speaking at the meeting, said that Pakistan always advocates peace and stability in the region.

The ambassdor’s meeting with Nepali top dignitaries takes place amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after India abrogated the Article 370 of its Constitution last month, ending the special autonomy granted to India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir region. Since then, Pakistan has been lobbying to garner international support over its stance on Kashmir issue. Jammu and Kashmir has remained a disputed territory between the the two countries after Pakistan separated from India in 1947.
