Minister Khatiwada calls for collective effort for promoting women leadership
Kathmandu / Sept 13: Minister for Finance Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada has underscored the need for collective effort to advance the cause of collective leadership in women in the South Asia region.
Inaugurating the two-day International Women Entrepreneurs Summit-2019 organized by the South Asian Women Development Forum in the capital on Friday, Minister Dr Khatiwada argued that collective efforts were imperative to empower women economically, socially, culturally and politically in South Asia. He underlined the role of education and entrepreneurship to ensure women’s success in every sector.
Calling for the concerted struggle for more women rights, the Minister reaffirmed that constitution of Nepal has ensured women’s equal representation from the local level to the federal parliament as well as in all State organs for promoting the leadership in women. He shared that the government in Nepal has put in place the policy to encourage women for entrepreneurship leveraging the ICT.
Stakeholders and women business leaders and emerging women entrepreneurs from the USA, UK, Europe, SAARC, ASEAN, and Africa among others are convening in the event. The Summit is themed “Harnessing Economic Empowerment” and aims at promoting women entrepreneurship, initiatives on innovative projects, transfer of technology and skills, collaborations and partnerships.
On the occasion, women rights advocate Bharati Silwal underlined gender equality between the women and men to advance the cause of women. RSS
