Twenty-five countries participating in Tripitaka recitation

Rupandehi / Nov 7: As many as 25 countries are participating in an international-level Tripitaka recitation scheduled in Lumbini this year.

Tripitaka recitation is taking place for the second time with the support of Province 5 government, Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, the Lumbini Development Trust, and Thai Monastery.

The main organiser, Tripitaka Recitation Organising Committee, is organising the programme at Mayadevi Temple premises on November 14-16.

Secretary at the Organising Committee, Hem Bahadur Bista, said that Buddhist monks and nuns from 25 countries including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Korea and Japan would participate in the programme.

Binaya Pitaka, Sutra Pitaka and Abhidhamma Pitaka that comprise the Tripitaka would be recited in the three-day programme.

A programme has been scheduled where a Nepali monk would be leading the Sutra recitation on the first day while a monk of Myanmar would be leading the Abhidhamma Pital recitation on the second day. And a Thai monk would be leading Binaya Pitaka recitation on the third. RSS
