India’s dominance continues, Nepal in second with 43 golds

Kathmandu / Dec 7: India is dominating the medal tally at the ongoing 13th South Asian Games being held in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.

Among the participating South Asian countries, India is at the top spot with 210 medals including 106 gold, 69 silver and 35 bronze. Host Nepal, with 138 medals including 43 gold, 33 silver and 62 bronze, is in the second rank.

Similarly, Sri Lanka has bagged 167 medals including 30 gold, 54 silver and 83 bronze so far. Another South Asian nation Pakistan has secured 73 (21gold, 28 silver and 34 bronze) medals.

Likewise, Bangladesh, with 83 (7 gold, 22 silver and 54 bronze) medals, has placed itself at the fifth position.

The Maldives has bagged only three medals including a gold and two bronze.

Bhutan, which is at the bottom of the tally, has not bagged any gold yet. However, it has clinched six bronze so far.

The SAG that kicked off officially on December 1 has witnessed several sports events including cricket, volleyball, football, wrestling and swimming and among others. The mega sporting event will continue until December 10. Courtesy: Myrepublica
