Halt international flights: SC orders the Govt.

Kathmandu / Mar. 2: The Supreme Court (SC) today issued an interim order to halt international flights for some days or months to prevent possible spread of COVID-19 in Nepal.

As the epidemic is expanding globally, a single bench of Justice Tej Bahadur K.C. urged the government to not overlook the potential of Nepal being affected by the epidemic.

Advocate Purna Rajbanshi had filed a writ petition in the SC, requesting the apex court of the country to issue an interim order to carry out health check-up of everyone entering the country, halt flights from the affected countries and not provide visas to the nationals of the countries affected by the virus.

The SC, during the hearing of Rajbanshi’s petition, issued an interim order to halt all direct and transit flights to Nepal from China, Japan, South Korea, Barahin and Iran.

Likewise, the SC also ordered the government to carry out health check-up of the nationals entering Nepal from the virus affected areas and to immediately send anyone suspected to have been affected from COVID-19 in isolation or quarantine as necessary.
