Covid-19 Update: 818 new cases, 281 recovered; 166 new cases in Valley

Kathmandu / Aug. 23: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 818 new cases of COVID-19 today.

In 8,026 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 818 persons, 220 females and 598 males, were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusa, Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kathmadu, Kavre, Dolakha, Dhading, Bhaktapur, Makwanpur, Rasuwa, Ramechhap, Lalitpur, Sindhul, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Gorkha, Argakhanchi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Pyuthan, Bardiya, Banke, Rukum, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Jumla, Rukum (West), Achcham, Dadelduhra, Darchula, Bajhang and Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 281 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 58 per cent.

Currently, there are 13,155 active cases of COVID-19 of which, are in 9,212 institutional isolation and 3,943 are in home isolation. Some 11,414 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine centers across the nation.

Of the active COVID-19 patients, 137 are admitted to ICU and 10 are receiving treatment in ventilator facility.

With today’s 818 new cases, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 31,935 including 18,631 cases of recovery and 149 death cases.

Kathmandu Valley records 166 new cases of COVID-19

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 166 new cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley today.

In 8,026 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 166 persons were found with the virus infection in the Valley itself, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Of the 166 new cases, 126 were detected in Kathmandu, 12 were detected in Lalitpur and 28 were detected in Bhaktapur.

Meanwhile, some 818 new cases were recorded across the nation on Sunday, taking the national COVID-19 to 31,935 including 18,631 cases of recovery and 149 death cases.
