Free transportation service for health workers and hospital staffs in Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu / Aug 30 : A free transportation service has been made available for health workers and hospital staffs in the Kathmandu Valley.
The bus service comes amid a prohibitory order wherein health workers and hospital staffs are finding it hard to discharge their duty for lack of convenient transportation.
The service is provided from 6:30 am to 8:30 am in the morning and from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the evening. Nepal Medical Association (NMA), Rotary Club of Kathmandu Health Professionals, Nepal National Hospital, Kalanki, Nepal Scouts and Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’
Association Nepal cooperated with this initiative.
The free bus service aims for easy transportation of health workers and hospital staffs amid a prohibitory order, said Medical Director of the NMA
Dr Prakash Poudyal. Three buses are operated on different routes in the first phase, it has been said.
A bus runs from Bansbari and goes through Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Bir Hospital, Thapathali Hospital before making a stop at Patan Hospital.
Another route begins at Patan Hospital, Thapathali Hospital, Eye Hospital, Tripureshwor, Bir Hospital, Kanti Children’s Hospital, Teaching Hospital and Bansbari. Third bus operates on the Ring Road.
Bus service and transportation time would be gradually increased as per need, said NMA’s executive member Dr Ritesh Thapa. One can dial hotline 1147 for inquires and any problem related to the transportation service.
