Nepal’s COVID-19 caseload crosses 100,000-mark with 2,059 new infections

Kathmandu / Oct. 9: Nepal’s COVID-19 tally on Friday crossed 100,000’s mark. With 2,059 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection, the national COVID-19 caseload has surged to 100,676.

“In 13,279 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,059 persons were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the regular press briefing today.

Currently, there are 27,053 active cases of COVID-19 of which 11,176 patients are receiving treatment in institutional isolations and 15,877 are in home isolation. Some 4,703 people are currently placed in quarantine centers across the nation.

Of the active patients, 318 are admitted to the ICU and 75 are receiving treatment in ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, some 1,680 COVID-19 patients, either receiving treatment at various health facilities or staying in home isolation, recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now registered 73,023 COVID-19 recoveries and the recovery rate is at 72.5 per cent.

Furthermore, a total of 10 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has now reached 600.

1,409 new cases in Kathmandu Valley

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Friday confirmed 1,409 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.

In 1,3279 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,409 persons , 527 females and 882 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Valley itself, revealed the daily report released by the MoHP today.

Of the 1,409 new cases, 1,116 cases, 409 females and 707 males, were detected in Kathmandu, 130 cases, 57 females and 73 males, were found in Bhaktapur and 163 cases, 61 females and 102 males, were recorded in Lalitpur.

Moreover, some 2,059 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed across the nation on Thursday, taking the national tally to 100,676 including 73,023 cases of recovery and 600 death cases.
