COVID-19 update: 2,071 new cases, 1,552 recoveries, tally hits 107,755
Kathmandu, Oct. 11: With 2,071 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection reported on Sunday, the national COVID-19 caseload has surged to 107,755.
“In 12,427 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,071 persons were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the regular press briefing today.
Currently, there are 31,315 active cases of COVID-19 of which 13,649 patients are receiving treatment in institutional isolations and 17,666 are in home isolation. Some 4,613 people are currently placed in quarantine centers across the nation.
Of the active patients, 329 are admitted to the ICU and 76 are receiving treatment in ventilator facility.
Meanwhile, some 1,552 COVID-19 patients, either receiving treatment at various health facilities or staying in home isolation, recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now registered 75,804 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate is at 70.3 per cent.
Furthermore, a total of 22 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll has now reached 636.
1,416 new cases in Kathmandu valley
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed 1,416 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.
In 12,427 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,416 persons, 529 females and 1,416 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Valley itself, revealed the daily report released by the MoHP today.
Of the 1,416 new cases, 1,145 cases, 408 females and 737 males, were detected in Kathmandu, 110 cases, 50 females and 60 males, were found in Bhaktapur and 161 cases, 71 females and 90 males, were recorded in Lalitpur.
Moreover, some 2,071 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed across the nation on Sunday, taking the national tally to 107,755 including 75,804 cases of recoveries and 636 death cases.
