Nepali Army hands over 100,000 face masks to Indian Army Chief

Kathmandu / Nov. 5: The Government of India has provided medical equipment including ambulances to help Nepali Army (NA) run field hospitals.

Visiting Chief of the Army Staff of Indian Army General Manoj Mukund Naravane handed over the health equipment to Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa amidst a function in the Army Headquarters in Kathmandu today.

The health assistance to NA was received as per the decision of the 13th Nepal-India Bilateral Group’s Meeting on Security Issues.

The health equipment included four ambulances, four ventilators for two field hospitals and other laboratory equipment.

Likewise, NA Chief Thapa also reciprocated by handing over 100,000 medical masks made in Nepal and an idol of Lord Buddha, a symbol of peace to General Naravane.

Prior to this, General Naravane paid his tribute to the martyrs in the Army Pavilion and received a Guard of Honour in the Army Headquarters.

He also planted a pecan tree sapling in the Army Headquarters premise.

Likewise, General Naravane paid a courtesy call on Nepali Army Chief General Thapa at the latter’s office. They exchanged views on issues of bilateral interests and discussed measures to further strengthen the existing bond of friendship and cooperation between the two armies, according to a press statement issued by the NA’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

It is said that President Bidya Devi Bhandari will confer the honorary rank of General of Nepal Army on General Naravane late this afternoon. RSS
